In our Puppy Class, we help your little one build the confidence, manners, and life skills they need to grow into a happy, well-rounded adult dog. Each week is filled with fun lessons, gentle guidance, and those heart-melting “aha!” moments that make puppyhood so special. Puppies are amazing but they need guidance and support as they learn and grow. Our Puppy class focuses on building confidence, teaching good manners and helps you understand your pup, so that you can have a strong and healthy relationship. Puppyhood is a special time and we want to help you enjoy the precious moments.

For dogs of any age, we’ll work on essential skills such as basic commands, loose-leash walking, reliable recall, polite greetings with people and other dogs, and a solid “Stay.” You’ll also learn how to strengthen your relationship with your dog, build their confidence, understand the difference between physical and mental stimulation, support self-regulation, and develop neutrality in a variety of environments. We will help build confidence through activities and strengthen your bond with your dog.

Ready for the next step? Our High School Class enhances your existing training by adding distractions that challenge and strengthen your dog’s skills. This class builds on the foundation skills that your dog already knows by adding distance, distraction and duration. Strengthening their impulse and self control for real-life situations. This unique class takes you and your dog out into the real world to practice all the skills you’ve been building with us at Dog Star Ranch! Each week, we meet at a different location in the community—helping your dog learn to focus, listen, and stay confident no matter where life takes you. We will be exploring as far south as Grand Haven and as north as Montague. Enrollment requires completion of DSR’s Elementary and High School Class.

Ready to take your dog’s skills from good… to flawless? Our Masters Class is designed for dogs (and humans!) who are ready to fine-tune, polish, and master every command they’ve learned so far. This class will focus on strengthening your dog’s off leash skills and sharpen their listening skills no matter what distractions are around. Let’s take your dog from great to exceptional. Enrollment requires completion of DSR’s Elementary, High School Class and College Class.

Ready to take your dog’s skills from basic to bravo? Our Trick Class is all about fun, bonding, and showing off your pup’s hidden talents! Whether your dog is a beginner or already a bit of a show-off, this class brings out their inner superstar. Enrollment requires completion of at least one Dog Star Ranch training class.

Got a specific behavior you want to fix? A skill you’ve been meaning to polish? A question you’ve always wanted to ask? Welcome to our Anything Goes Class—the most personalized training experience we offer. Each week, we choose two manners or behaviors requested by the class members, making every session completely tailored to your needs. Making Each Session fresh, personalized and built just for you. Enrollment requires completion of at least one Dog Star Ranch training class.

Help your dog become a well-mannered, polite member of the community! Our CGC Prep Class is designed to prepare you and your dog for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test—a widely respected title that recognizes your dogs with excellent in public. You’ll receive guidance, coaching, and confidence-building practice to ensure you and your dog are fully prepared for test day. This class is supportive, structured, and perfect for any dog whose owner loves to take them everywhere. Enrollment requires completion of at least one Dog Star Ranch training class.

The AKC Canine Good Citizen Test is a respected certification program that recognizes dogs who demonstrate outstanding manners at home, in public, and around other dogs. Passing the CGC test shows that your dog is polite, well-behaved, and under control—no matter the environment. During the test, your dog will be evaluated on 10 key skills. Accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting appearance & grooming, loose-leash walking, walking through a crowd, sit, down, and stay on command, coming when called, appropriate behavior around other dogs, reaction to distractions, supervised separation. All exercises are done on-leash in a calm, supportive environment. No harsh corrections or special equipment are allowed—just solid training, teamwork, and a well-mannered dog. Passing the CGC Test earns your dog an official AKC Canine Good Citizen Title, a proud accomplishment and a wonderful step toward therapy work, advanced obedience, or simply being a model canine citizen.

Take your dog for a stroll… with friends! Our Pack Walk Class is all about enjoying leash walks in a relaxed, social setting—fun and fresh scenery. Each week, we’ll explore a different local location, giving your dog new sights, smells, and experiences. Your trainer will lead the group, provide guidance on the route, making sure that everyone stays safe. It’s purely for socialization, exercise, and quality time with your dog. Enrollment requires completion of at least one Dog Star Ranch training class.

If leash walking is a challenge, this class is designed to help. We focus on teaching calm, consistent loose-leash walking and explore different walking techniques suited for various environments and situations. In 30 days, you’ll develop reliable leash manners and gain the practical skills and strategies needed for successful walks anywhere. Enrollment requires completion of at least one Dog Star Ranch training class.
